Matlab

MATLAB, which stands for MATrix LABoratory, is an interactive system whose basic data element is an array that does not require dimensioning. It is a high-level matrix/array language with control flow statements, functions, data structures, input/output, and object-oriented programming features. Typical uses include math and computation, algorithm development, modeling, simulation, prototyping, and data analysis.

Availability

Citrix – MATLAB is available for use by Stern Faculty and Students through Apps@Stern (the Stern Citrix server), and to Students through the NYU Virtual Computer Lab (the NYU Citrix server).
Local and free – MATLAB is available to Stern Faculty and Phd Students as a local PC, Mac, or Linux installation. It is installed by the user and is free of charge. This type of license, called a Network Concurrent license, requires a live Internet connection to a remote license manager in order to run MATLAB. To request registration and instructions for downloading and installing, please send email to research@stern.nyu.edu.
No Internet required – MATLAB is available to NYU Faculty as a standalone application requiring no Internet connection to run. This type of license is called a Designated Computer license. It costs $100 per academic year, and can be requested by sending email to hpc@nyu.edu.
Research servers – MATLAB is available to Stern faculty and PhD Students on rnd.stern.nyu.edu and the Stern GRID, the research servers at Stern.
